The history of the Albert Hall Museum Jaipur Rajasthan is believed to be about 150 years old, the foundation of which was laid on 6 February 1876 during the visit of the Prince of Wales Albert Edward to Jaipur. It was not certain how the building would be used. In 1880, at the suggestion of Maharaja Sawai Madhosingh II, a temporary museum was built in 1881 to display the products of local artisans.
Albert Hall was completed in 1887 by Jaipur PWD Director Samuel Swinton Jacob. The temporary museum, whose artifacts were collected from many parts of India and its neighbors was transferred to the new museum.
